Enzymatically Degradable Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) Derivatives for Suppressing Cellular
Accumulation
Abstract:
Recent studies have reported that repeated administration of high dose PEGylated drugs
containing high molecular weight PEG cause cellular vacuolation due to PEG accumulation.
Although the adverse effects of vacuolation have not been clarified, PEG derivatives
capable of suppressing vacuolation is desired. Therefore, we report on high molecular
weight PEGs that can be degraded into low molecular weight PEGs in cells and suppress
its accumulation in tissues.
