MODIPER® AS series

MODIPER® AS100 is one of polymer additives, which is exclusively manufactured by our unique technology making graft-copolymer. Further MODIPER® AS series is friendly for the environment because it isn’t made up of materials which are related to halogenated reactants.

Squeak noise reduction

The MODIPER® AS series can reduce a risk of squeak noise generated when it is rubbed with thermoplastic resins or leathers by adding 3 – 5 wt.% into ABS, PC, PC/ABS, POM and other thermoplastic resins.

When molded parts are rubbed with other mold parts or leather, squeak noise is generated due to repeated sticking and slipping of the materials at the interface (stick-slip phenomenon). Since the MODIPER® AS series can add high slipperiness to molded parts by existing close to surface of molded parts, the interface of the parts becomes slippery and noise is prevented.

Besides MODIPER® AS series, MODIPER® A1401 and A5300 can also prevent squeak noise.

By adding MODIPER® AS100 into POM, the risk of squeak noise is reduced. In addition, MODIPER® AS100 can make the coefficient of kinetic friction lower.

Squeak noise prevention by MODIPER® AS155

The two specimens are prepared and rubbed 3 times. The risk of squeak noise is evaluated by Risk-Priority-Number (RPN) with the 10 stages: in case of RPN= 1 – 3, it is categorized as No stick-slip risk.

Applications

MODIPER® AS100 can be used to reduce the squeak noise for car interior (room mirror, arm rest, rail) or copier parts (plastic gear).
MODIPER® AS155 can be used for car interior parts or furniture parts to reduce squeak noise problem (console box, seat, door trim, sofa).

MODIPER® A1401 reduces noise for automotive, e.g. air conditioner, door hinges, various switches and reduces friction for gears
